Because of our wonderful volunteer base, About Care provides the following services, at no cost, to our neighbors in Chandler and Gilbert:
- Transportation - Escort Neighbor to medical or social appointment.
- Shopping and Errands - Shop for or with the client.
- Respite Care - Provide time away to the primary, full-time caregiver while offering companionship and overseeing safety.
- Computer Assistance - Bringing the outside world to our elderly and physically challenged homebound neighbors via technology.
- Friendly Visits - Visit client in their home for social interaction.
- Reassurance Phone Calls - Weekly telephone call to check on client’s welfare.
- Minor Home Repairs - Changing lightbulbs & filters, etc.
- Business Help - Assist with organization of bill payments, etc.
If you are in need of any of the services listed (or know of someone else who is), we may be able to assist weekly, monthly or just once. The decision is yours. All it takes is a phone call and a home visit to get started. Call About Care's Beth Summers for more details at 480.802.2331.
In additon, we provide reasonable accommodations if requested. We also provide information for the TTY 711, the Arizona Relay Service for the hearing impaired (TTY 711 Information).

About Care's Computer Assistance Program (ACCAP)
The Computer Assistance Program is Off and Running!
Our goal is to bring the outside world to our elderly and physically challenged homebound neighbors, of Chandler and Gilbert, one computer at a time.
Who’s eligible? Elderly and physically challenged homebound neighbors are eligible.
What’s the cost? About Care will provide this service free of charge to our qualifying neighbors.
What equipment is required? None! We will provide the computer and the internet connection, depending on availability. If you already have a computer and connection, About Care will provide a Volunteer to teach you what you would like to learn about the computer and offer a variety of software instruction.
No previous Computer Experience necessary! About Care’s trained Volunteers will teach you everything you need to know about the computer, moving at a pace that feels comfortable to you.
What is the schedule? We will match one Trained Volunteer with one Neighbor once a week for 45 minutes to one hour for 12 weeks. Each Neighbor will move through the program at his or her own pace. Once the basic instruction has been completed within the 12 week period, About Care will attempt to match a Volunteer with the Neighbor's continuing interests.
How do I apply to participate in this program? You will be required to fill out the Neighbor Computer Assistance Program Application. For those of you who do not have a computer or experience with the internet, please call Brenda Harvey at 480.556.1211 and she cancomplete the application for you via telephone. If Brenda completes your application, you will be required to sign it before receiving your equipment. Please keep in mind that there is currently a waiting list for the About Care Computer Assistance Program. We will respond to your application as soon as we receive it and keep you informed as to your status.
Westech supports the About Care Computer Assistance Program by Donating 5 Computers
When developing this program, we decided to recycle and refurbish used equipment as a means to create a sustainable program. IT Students from a local community college are in the process of rebuilding these systems before assigning them to About Care Neighbors. On behalf of About Care Neighbors, thank you Amy and Westech! About Care Needs Computer Instructors and Technical Support Volunteers
About Care is accepting Volunteer Applications for compassionate and caring individuals who want to make a difference in someone’s life. We will need two types of Volunteers, one group for Basic Computing and Software Instruction and another group of Volunteers willing to provide Technical Support (experience is required).
IT College Students Welcome to Volunteer
Depending on how much used equipment About Care receives during this drive, we may have weekend workshops to refurbish equipment. This would be a great opportunity for students in IT Programs to get great hands-on experience.

We are holding a computer drive asking for public and corporate donations of lightly used computer equipment, both hardware and software. Donating Your Personal Computer Equipment
If you are interested in donating computer equipment (desktops,laptops & flat panel monitors) and accessories, please select About Care’s Computer Assistance Need List for more details. If you’re worried about data on your old hard drive, don’t. We have tools that meet the Department of Defense Sanitation Specs to wipe your hard drive clean.

About Care is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization and all of your donations are tax deductible. It’s a Win - Win situation!
