ARIZONA STATE CHARITABLE TAX CREDIT FOR THE WORKING POOR
Times are tough, but donate to About Care without it costing you a dime!
What exactly is it?
The ARIZONA STATE CHARITABLE TAX CREDIT FOR THE WORKING POOR allows you to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, up to $400 if you file a joint return or up to $200 if you file a single return, on your Arizona state income tax when you give to About Care for those who qualify. This means your dollars can benefit the many people About Care serves, yet it won’t come out of your pocket!
Many people are weary about taking advantage of this credit because they’re not 100% sure it’s really going to come back to them in their refund. About Care is willing to refund back your entire donation should you not receive the tax credit for whatever reason.
How does it work?
The program is so simple! To take advantage of this tax credit:
- Write a check payable to About Care. P.O. Box 3278, Chandler, AZ 85244 for $200 or $400 by December 31st, 2010. About Care will mail you the receipt needed when you file your taxes.
- Itemize your charitable contributions.
- There is a simple form (AZ Form 321) that you must complete and include with your state tax filing in order to receive the tax credit. This form is available from your tax preparer or the ADOR website.
- Should tax time come and you’re not eligible to receive the credit, contact About Care directly.
But what if I already donated money to a school and used up my tax credit for 2010?
You’re in luck! Many people don’t know that the Arizona State Charitable Tax Credit for the Working Poor is different from those you can receive for private school tuition and public school extra-curricular activities. You are eligible to receive dollar-for-dollar tax credits for all three.
